Hello wonderful readers and happy march until spring!

I'm so excited this month - not only because the days are getting longer and brighter, but because we're introducing the amazing NEW PURE COLOR range for color-treated hair:

Anti-Fade Shampoo 100% sulfate-free for cleansing without dryness

Reviving Conditioner for smoothing and softening brittle hair

Frizz-Fighting Gloss to seal, protect, fight frizz and give you a mirror-like shine

I decided to design these products because here at Philip Kingsley, our most important belief is that healthy hair is beautiful hair. Clients often come to me with concerns about their color-treated hair. Why is their hair dry and brittle after coloring it? What can they do to fix it? How can they prevent future damage? And how can they reduce color fading?

The fact is, caring for permanently colored hair can be a real challenge, even if you use high-quality dyes and go to the best salons. To help, I've put together the following questions and answers to answer your most frequently asked questions about how best to treat your fragile hair.

And don't forget to try the amazing new Pure Color products if dry, brittle, processed hair is a concern for you. I hope you love the range as much as I do.

Happy April and happy hair days,

Anabel xo

Is it bad to dye my hair?

The harsh chemicals involved in color processing take their toll on your hair. They can make your hair dry, brittle, and prone to split ends and split ends. Going from a darker tone to a lighter tone is especially difficult for your hair, as the bleaching agents need to be stronger and last longer. So color-treated hair will really benefit from extra special care.

What exactly do permanent hair dyes do to my hair?

First, all permanent hair dyes contain an ingredient that raises the pH level of your hair. This relaxes and lifts the cuticle, allowing other chemicals to penetrate the hair shaft and change your hair color.

Bleaching agents then oxidize the color proteins in your hair, leaving it colorless.

Finally, the new pigment bonds with your hair shaft. These pigments start out as tiny molecules (monomers), small enough to penetrate the hair shaft. They react with each other to create larger molecules (polymers), which then can't be washed out. And voila, you have a new permanent color.

How can I protect my dyed hair from damage?

As I always tell my clients, permanently colored hair is very susceptible to breakage, so it's a good idea to choose a shampoo, conditioner, and styling products that provide your hair with extra moisture and nourishment.

Look for products (like those in the Pure Color range) that hydrate and then seal your hair with a protective barrier. This helps improve elasticity and resistance to breakage—and also prevents all-important color from fading.

How can I stop my hair color from fading?

Color fade is normal and inevitable, even with permanent hair dyes. It is caused by many factors and usually occurs after 4-6 weeks. UV rays, heated hair tools, sulfates, high pH products, and high porosity hair all contribute to color fading.

The best way to keep your color looking its best is to use products specifically designed to lock in these factors and lock in moisture at the same time. The three products in the Pure Color range are a 360 regime to do just that.

What is unique about Philip Kingsley's new Pure Color range?

Unlike other hair care products, the Pure Color trio doesn't just protect and brighten your hair color - they actually improve the condition of your hair and scalp. This creates stronger, healthier hair and long-lasting color.

Here's the science:

FLUORIDE PROTECTION: The protein-rich formulas in the Pure Color range enhance the integrity, strength and elasticity of your hair. This maximizes color retention and resistance to breakage.

FADE Protection: The positively charged cationic polymers in our formulas adhere to the negatively charged surface of your hair, sealing its cuticle to create an intelligent barrier. This barrier locks in color and moisture and blocks out damaging factors like UV, heat and free radical pollutants.

SCALP Nourishment: Natural derivatives contained in Pure Color Anti-Fade Shampoo soothe and maintain scalps that are dry and damaged after contact with aggressive chemicals used in the hair coloring process.
